  • Résumé

    En première apparence, tout semble séparer Augustin et Al-Fârâbî. Ils appartiennent à des temps, à des espaces géographiques et mentaux radicalement différents. Cette différence radicale motive justement notre volonté d'entreprendre un travail de philosophie comparée, qui montre comment un problème théologico-politique se pose dans deux systèmes de pensées et religieux différents, établissant ainsi un rapprochement et un dialogue entre deux figures fondamentales pour appréhender la question théologico-politique dans la philosophie chrétienne et musulmane. La réponse à cette question nous permettra également de mieux envisager la question théologico-politique telle qu'elle se pose aujourd'hui dans le christianisme et l'islam, par un retour aux sources communes qui les lient mais aussi la compréhension des directions différentes que les deux auteurs prennent.

  • Résumé

    At first sight, Augustine and Al-Farabi seem to have nothing in common. They belonged to very different areas and periods of time, but they also thought from a different mental space. These main differences are the reason why we would like to undertake a comparative study of their philosophies, which are at the same time tied around the same knot. Indeed, both Augustine and Al-Farabi tackled the theologico-political issue, from their own religious background. This work would then be an opportunity to have a fine understanding of how this common question is being asked in a Christian and in a Muslim frame of reference. Doing so would then enable us to have a better insight of the theologico-political problem in Christianity and in Islam nowadays. Well aware that subjectivity and historical contexts are to be taken into account in such a comparative study, we also believe that getting to the common roots of Christian and Muslim thoughts as well as assessing their philosophical orientations could cast a sharp light on our contemporary world.
