Various theoretical orientations (temperamental, natural, and conceptual) and models (dimensional and neuropsychological) emphasize the existence of two fundamental and distinct affective and motivational systems, associated with specific hemispherical activations : a positive system of approach, and a negative system of avoidance. Two lines of research have examined the effects of the activation of these systems through different behavioral and motor variables : a motor variable of approach-avoidance, and a variable linked to laterality. However, no study has shown interest in the combined effects of these two variables on the evaluation of neutral, valenced, known and unknown stimuli. With this in mind, five studies were therefore conducted which have revealed the existence of a mechanism of motor congruence associated with the simultaneous activation of the same affective and motivational system, through these two behavioral variables (approach-avoidance, right-left side).
