Résumé

La thèse se propose de tracer la création d'un modèle d'organisation du paysage, les jardins de Versailles, en prêtant attention à la formation et à la pratique des techniciens qui l'ont réalisé. Le but du travail est celui d'analyser le processus théorique et la réalisation pratique du projet d'aménagement du territoire mis en place en France, à l'époque du Roi-Soleil, pour la création du grand parc de Versailles. Le travail de recherche va s'articuler sur trois thématiques fondamentales : 1)la publication, dans la première moitié du XVIIe siècle, de traités d'art et composition des jardins qui vont théoriser un nouveau type de conception de l'espace jardin. 2) L'analyse des pratiques administratives, des techniques et savoirs employés par les différentes corporations de métiers qui travaillent au chantier de Versailles. 3) La naissance et la formation d'une nouvelle figure du jardinier, plutôt un architecte-paysagiste ante litteram qu'un simple horticulteur.

The garden of Versailles as a model of landscape design : maîtres jardiniers and techniques of territory aménagement at the age of King Sun

Résumé

This thesis aims at outlining the creation of a model of landscape organization, the one of the garden of Versailles, focusing the attention on the formation and pratice of the technicians who made it. The target of this work is analysing the theoretical process and the practical realization of a landscape-organization project put into effect in France, at the King Sun age for the creation of the Grand Parc of Versailles. The reearch articulates through three main themes : 1) the publication, during the first half of the XVII century, of art and garden composition treatrises which theorise a new model of garden-space. 2) The analysis of administrative practices, of the techniques and knowledge used by several trade corporations which work for 50 years in the yard of versailles. 3) The birth and the formation of a new gardener role, nearer to the one of the landscape-painter architect more than the simple horticulture man.
