La dynamique créatrice du lexique identitaire des francophones en Amérique du Nord

Résumé

Cette these definit les mecanismes (socio-)linguistiques qui regissent la creativite lexicale dans le discours identitaire des francophones en amerique du nord. Elle met en relief les liens qui existent entre, d'une part, les lexies non instituees et leur modes de creation et, d'autre part, les contextes sociaux de leurs manifestations. Son corpus d'analyse socio-lexicologique se compose de 1412 lexies tirees de 564 sources documentaires. A cette collecte a ete appliquee une grille d'analyse basee sur sept parametres operatoires, a savoir : le procede lexical, le macrocontexte du contexte choisi, le theme du contexte choisi, son eclairage enonciatif, la zone geographique a laquelle l'attestation lexicale et contextuelle appartient, l'eventuel statut de "hapax" de la lexie enregistree ainsi que l'annee de publication de la selection contextuelle. Les sept parametres ont permis d'etablir comment le lexique identitaire est configure. Il revele non seulement des differences notables entre les zones de la francophonie nord-americaine, et en cela il traduit la diversite des situations socio-linguistiques, mais aussi des ecarts significatifs par rapport a la neologie du francais non regional. Le statut non-dictionnairique du lexique identitaire decoule primo de la periphericite de la lexicographie franco-nord-americaine qui ne semble pas encore savoir comment il faut traiter la marginalite geo-lexicale, secundo de l'application plus stricte du critere de la frequence par la meme lexicographie et tertio de la norme socio-politique qui regit la lexicographie francophone dans son ensemble, qu'elle soit nord-americaine ou europeenne. Le lexique identitaire franco-nord-americain montre aussi l'importance du phenomene de la signifiance recontextualisee. Les analyses effectuees ont revele l'existence d'une serie de parametres (la conjugaison des criteres du macrocontexte, du theme et de la sensibilite) qui permettent de voir comment le sentiment de l'appartenance monoreferentielle et plurielle evolue a travers les contextes evenementiels.

The creative forces behind the identitary lexicon of north-american francophones

Résumé

This thesis defines the (socio)-linguistic mechanisms which determine and organize the phenomenon of lexical creativity in the discourse on identity of the french-speaking communities in north-america. It emphasizes both the non-instituted terms and words and their modes of creation, and the social contexts in which they manifest themselves. The corpus used for socio-lexicological analysis covers 1412 unities drawn from 564 documentary sources. This vocabulary has been submitted to a context analysis matrix based on seven operational parameters : 1) the lexical mode 2) the macro-context 3) the theme 4) the enunciative mode 5) the geographic area 6) the status of "mot d'auteur" (hapax) and 7) the year of publication of the chosen context. The application of these seven parameters has allowed us to define the structuring of the identitary lexicon. This vocabulary reveals not only important differences between the seven zones of the north-american "francophonie", in that it reflects the variety of social-linguistic situations, but also a number of significant disparities compared to the neology of standard french. The status of "non-dictionarized vocabulary" which is the major characteristic of the identitary lexicon, is defined by three factors : first the peripheral status of franco-north-american lexicography which seems to ignore how geo-lexical marginality has to be treated. Second the more coercive application of the criterion of frequency by the same lexicography. Third the social-political norm which controls the total francophone lexicography, both european and north-american. The identitary lexicon of french-speaking north-america shows clearly the important phenomenon of recontextualized signification. The analyses carried out in this thesis have proved the existence of a series of parameters (the junction of the criterions of macrocontext, theme, sensibility) which give insight into the way in which the experience of the monoreferential and plural sense of "belonging" changes concurrently with the contexts of events.
