Cette thèse traite, d'un point de vue ethno-psychologique, de l'interaction mère-bébé. L'hypothèse principale concerne le rôle du +holding; (maternel et familial) et de sa fonction apaisante contre la détresse de l'enfant. Et cette thèse porte sur l'étude d'une population indigène amazonienne du Brésil : les Deni de la rivière Xerua. La méthode combinée de l'observation directe des interactions précoces, de l'observation filmique et de l'analyse des représentations culturelles des comportements de maternage par questionnaire, a servi de support à l'investigation clinique menée sur des familles Deni. Nous avons comparé les particularités de soins prodigues aux enfants des familles Deni et des familles +riveraines.

Résumé
Using an ethno-psychological point of view, this thesis analyses the interaction between mothers and babies the principal hypothesis of the study concerns the role of holding (maternal and familial) as a way to relieve child angst. It contains a study of a Brazilian people of Amazonia: the Deni of the river Xerua the clinical investigation of Deni families is based on a combination of three methods: direct observation of early interactions, filmic observation and questionnaire on the cultural representation and conducts regarding the cares given to young children. A comparison between Deni and the so called "riverside" population is provided.
