The research pertains to lsp linguistics as a general frame, and also takes into account findings in the terminology field. It offers a metalexicographical analysis with the aim of defining french business lexicon. An overview of contemporary french business dictionaries is provided as well as the results of a comparative analysis of entries from ten dictionaries produced in french - speaking countries (belgium, canada, france). The analysis is carried out by means of a database. It shows an heterogenous vocabulary which is looked at in details; two main characteristics of this vocabulary are then examined : specialization and reflection of institutional terminology.
