Foreeign languages and culture studies in the vietnamese school milieu have long been bound toi policical and economical events. From a pure ideological domination, the foreign language spreding has changed to a boorming market economy domination. This brings about a risk of monolinguism from anglo-american language which tends to be stronger as if foreign language were a simple instruymental tool. In this propest, the foreign language learning and teaching, in the event french, has never acquiered, in the vietnamese context, the real school subject status. The purpose of this study is to make a report of this moving reality which stakes are to be determined, not only in their politico-economical dependance. But also, and particulary, through others fields that underlies the balanced developement of the contemporaingy vietnamese and of the society in which he lives.
