Le pays de montbeliard, sous la dynastie de wurtemberg, est devenu a partir du xvie s. Une principaute lutherienne qui a laisse des traces residuelles encore sensibles aujourd'hui. Le but de la these est d'etudier les origines medievales de cette principaute et de son passage a la reforme lutherienne, par comparaison avec ses voisins restes catholiques, entre autres, la seigneurie de porrentruy appartenant a l'eveque de bale. Apres une presentation de la regioin au xive s. , l'etude aborde les differents groupes sociaux au xve s. Et montre leur evolution et leurs contradictions. L'etat princier se degage ds structures feodales et peut s'imposer a l'ensemble de la societe, aussi bien a montbeliard qu'a porrentruy. Le terrain religieux est favorable aux idees de reforme : le prince l'impose a montbeliard, il la combat a porrentruy. 35from the xvith century, under the wurtemberg's dynasty, the montbeliard area has become a lutherian principality some notorious traces of which can still be found nowadays. The purpose of this thesis is first to study the medieval origins of this principality as well as its changing into a lutherian one, then to compare it with its neighbours who have remained catholic, especially porrentruy seigneury which belonged to the dishop of basle. After studying this country in the xivth century, its various social groups will be analysed. We'll be also shown how the prince state was born from feudal patterns and how it coult impose its authority over the whole society of both montbeliard and porrentruy. The religious background is favourable to the ideas of the reformation : therefore it will be enforced in montbeliard but refused in porrentruy.
