Le mythe "esperpento", qui se constitue dans les annees 60-70, peut etre explique par des raisons ideologiques et esthetiques. Recupere par une intelligentsia d'opposition, valle-inclan devient la preuve que l'espagne du debut du siecle a un dramaturge a la hauteur du theatre europeen en pleine evolution. La denomination de genre, impossible a legitimer theoriquement et pratiquement, prouve l'hypervalorisation du mot. Afin de saisir la portee reelle de l'ecriture dramaturgique de valle-inclan, l'elaboration d'une grille formelle est necessaire. En effet, certains auteurs appartenant a la generation realiste, j. M. Rodriguez mandez, lauro olmo, carlos muniz, jose martin recuerda, se reclament explicitement ou implicitement heritiers de valle-inclan et la critique assimile la plupart de leurs oeuvres a l'esperpento. Apres l'analyse de quatre de leurs pieces, il apparait clairement que cette assimilation procede d'amalgames superficiels de l'esperpento avec des tendances theatrales diverses. Eloignes de la conception distanciee du createurs valle-inclan, ces auteurs tirent neanmoins profit de la lecon "esperpentique" de l'innovation. A partir de l'esperpento, le theatre espagnol peut etre un theatre en liberte.

THE MYTH OF ESPERPENTO, WHICH APPEARS IN THE 1960'S, CAN BE ACCOUNTED FOR BY IDEOLOGIC AND AESTHETIC REASONS. RECUPERATED BY AN OPPOSITION INTELLIGENTSIA, VALLE-INCLAN BECOMES A LIVING PROOF THAN SPAIN, AT THE BEGINGIN OF THE CENTURY, POSSESSES A PLAYWRIGTH WHO CAN COMPETE with A CHANGING EUROPEAN THEATRE. CONSIDERING THE ESPERPENTO AS A GENRE, WHICH CAN'T BE LEGITIMATED NEITHER THEORETICALLY NOR PRACTICALLY, PROVES THE EXCESSIVE VALORATION OF THE NOTION. IN ORDER TO ASSES THE REAL INFLUENCE OF THE DRAMATIC WRITING OF VALLE-INCLAN, THE CONSTITUTION OF A FORMAL GRID OF INTERPRETATION IS NECESSARY. IN FACT, SOME WRITTERS WHO BELONG TO THE REALISTICT GENERATION EXPLICTMENT OR IMPLICITMENT CLAIM A FILIATION WITH VALLE-INCLAN AND THE CRITICS ASSIMILATE MOST OF THEIR WORKS WITH ESPERPENTO. STUDYING OF FOUR OF THEIR WORKS, CLEARLY SHOWS THAT THE ASSIMILATION PROCEEDS FROM SUPERFICIAL CONFUSIONS BETWEEN ESPPERPENTO AND VARIOUS TENDANCIES. DISTANT FROM THE VALLE-INCLAN'S CONCEPTION OF THE CREATION, THESE PLAYWRITERS DERIVE A PROFIT FROM THE "ESPERPENTIC" LESSON OF INNOVATION. AFTER THE ESPERPENTO, THE SPANISH DRAMA CAN BE A FREE THEATRE.
