The novels of malraux are read in the perspective of the metamorphosis of the culture and the history, namely, of the conquest of the cultural heritage. A would-be confront between the two worlds oriental and occidental doesn't work in the asiatic trilogy, but on the whole of the novels, that is to say, in the opposition between this trilogy and the occidental trilogy. With this frame-work of the oppositional relations which orchestrate dualistically the two poles represented by the two trilogies, we try elucidating how the heros and the principal characters of malraux are in the quest of a sense of the life and how this quest is aesthetically structured in each text. Such elucidation is projected on the interrogative vision of the novelist who considers about the mystery of man in the opening of a new horizon in which the metamorphosis of the culture and that of the history meet. It shows that the two trilogies have respectively for the metaphysical foundation of their message the oriental thought and the occidental thought.
