Résumé

L'étude génétique d'A la recherche du temps perdu est entrée dans une nouvelle époque avec l'acquisition des treize cahiers Guérin par la Bibliothèque nationale. A la lumière de ces nouveaux documents, on peut marquer deux étapes majeures dans l'évolution du thème des jeunes filles à la plage; la première est en rapport explicite avec la problématique du souvenir du rêve, la seconde, avec celle de la leçon du regard. Autour des années 1909-1910, le héros proustien cherche toujours à faire coïncider l'image initiale de la fille avec sa figure réelle. L'écriture proustienne s'organisait en liaison avec la recherche de l'identité entre le rêve et la réalité par le moyen du souvenir. Mais, vers 1913, Proust passe de la problématique de l'identité à celle de la multiplicité; l'écrivain fait valoir l'expérience visuelle du héros de manière à souligner la diversité de la fille qui ne cesse de changer. Et ce thème, dans la grande mise en scène du thème de la jalousie, contribue à accuser l'écoulement du temps et l'inconnaissabilité de l'autre.

The genetic study of a la recherche du temps perdu has come into a new period with the acquisition by the Bibliothèque nationale of the thirteen cahiers Guerin. Taking account of these new documents, it is now possible to mark two important steps in the evolution of the theme of the young girls on the beach; the first is connected with the problem of the recollection of the dream, the second, with the one of the visual experience. In years 1909-10, the Proustian hero always tries to find a correspondence between the first image of the girl and her real figure. For the novelist, in this period, the essential was to seek for the identity between dream and reality by the way of recollection. But, about 1913, Proust passes from the problem of identity to the one of multiplicity; he puts emphasis on the visual experience of the hero for the purpose of describing the diversity of the young girl who changes interminably. And, this theme, in the wide development of the theme of jealousy, contributes to make explicit the flowing of the time and the impossibility to know the other.
