  • Résumé

The aim of this project is to study what healing entails from the perspective of those who give, receive or evaluate healing. To study encounters in healing, this project will provide an in-depth ethnographic inquiry into the reconfigurations induced by the globalisation of ayahuasca. This globalisation invites us to ask how the differences between healing and curing are constructed in different places. What multiple understandings of wellness, illness, bodies and pathology underpin healing efforts? This PhD project will examine the constellations of elements brought together in neotraditional urban practices of healing from the perspective of the creation, stabilisation and transmission of new ritual healing forms. I will provide a comparative analysis of the healing practices structured around two of the three ERC Encounter’s transversal objectives. These are: Material Semiotics and Encounters Beyond-the-Human.
