  • Résumé

    The importance of using algorithmic methods to study network science is invaluable to understand societies we live in — real and virtual. Communication and the interaction with other human beings has shifted from face to face communication towards online social networks. The social networks surrounding us go far beyond friendships to including business cooperations, academic collaborations, the spread of diseases, romantic relations, even political ideas. Their study is of tremendous importance across a variety of areas including economics, social science, marketing, disease propagation, etc. However, often this research is based on statistics, and simulations, lacking mathematical rigour, which is the focus of this proposal. The focus of the thesis is to investigate graph theoretical aspects of social networks.
