Caractérisation et influence du proche et de l’environnement social dans le quotidien des patients souffrant de maladie chronique

Résumé

Dans ce travail doctoral, nous avons souhaité aborder le vécu de la maladie chronique non pas par le seul prisme du patient, mais par celui du proche d’une part, en tant qu’individu affecté également par la maladie et accompagnant le patient dans la maladie, et par l’environnement social d’autre part comprenant les différents espaces d’activité du patient susceptibles d’influencer l’expérience de la maladie chronique. Nous avons plus particulièrement souhaité interroger l’influence du proche et de l’environnement social sur l’adaptation à la maladie et sur le vécu quotidien des patients avec leur maladie. Ainsi, dans le cadre du travail doctoral, différentes études et travaux, à la fois qualitatif et quantitatif, ont été réalisés et nous ont apporté de nouveaux éléments de compréhension quant à l’influence du proche et de l’environnement social des patients dans l’adaptation à la maladie. Ils nous ont apporté également un nouvel éclairage quant à la caractérisation de ce que l’on nomme proche et environnement social des patients. Enfin, les résultats nous ont permis de mettre en lumière des éléments caractéristiques de la relation, tel que le soutien social perçu par exemple et leur impact sur la relation entretenue. Plus généralement, ce travail de thèse nous a permis de souligner la nécessité de poser un regard sinon transdisciplinaire, au moins pluridisciplinaire, sur les questions de santé.

Characterization and influence of caregiver and social environment in the daily life of patients with chronic disease

In this doctoral work, we wanted to approach the experience of chronic disease not only through the patient's prism, but also through that of the family member, on the one hand, as an individual affected by the disease and accompanying the patient in the disease, and on the other hand by the social environment including the different areas of activity of the patient that may influence the experience of chronic disease. In particular, we wanted to question the influence of the family member and the social environment on the adaptation to the disease and on the daily experience of patients with their disease. Thus, as part of the doctoral work, various studies and studies, both qualitative and quantitative, have been carried out and have provided us with new insights into the influence of the patient's family member and social environment in adapting to the disease. They also provided us with new insights into the characterization of what is known as patients' proximity and social environment. Finally, the results allowed us to highlight characteristic elements of the relationship, such as perceived social support for example and their impact on the relationship. More generally, this thesis work has enabled us to underline the need to take an even transdisciplinary, at least multidisciplinary, look at health issues.
