Sources, antecedents, editions, translations, adaptations and recreations of El sombrero de tres picos, 1874 by Pedro Antonio de Alarcón y Ariza, 1833-1891 : literary, stylistic, linguistic and aesthetic comparative study
The notion of rewriting, applied to El sombrero de tres picos (1874), short story situated between tale and novel and emblematic work of the Spanish writer Pedro Antonio de Alarcón y Ariza (1833-1891), is the problematics of this doctoral thesis. The first part analyses the links between the sources and the literary antecedents of the work and the work itself, fruit and result of a real cultural mixing and rewriting of a long literary, oral and popular tradition, based on the parody of the theme of honour. The second part deals with the stylistic and linguistic comparative study of the work and its ten French translations, so as to assess the degree of rewriting of the original text, from faithfulness to betrayal, from tradition to modernity. The third part analyses the dramatic and artistic adaptations and recreations of the work, emphasizes the relations of correspondance and mediation between Literature an Art, and broaches notions of comparative reception and aesthetics
